MBABANE - In just a few weeks the Ingwenyama Cup Culture performances are set to begin.
The air was thick with anticipation as dignitaries and locals gathered to celebrate their rich heritage and for the Ingwenyama Cup football draw at the MVA Head offices in Mbabane.
The King’s Representative, Prince Bukhosi, said that their Majesties have blessed the occasion and are happy with the tournament’s impact over the years. “Our culture is one of the most beautiful in the world, emaSwati must partake in it. Culture unites the nation.

“It is essential for us to stand as one for the benefit of our country,” he said, reminding everyone present of the power of traditional attire, adorned by many, which showcased the vibrant creativity of local designers. Through our traditional attire, everyone benefits, from selling their beautiful designs to emaSwati adorning them in stunning ways,” he said. Following the prince’s stirring address, the Premier League of Eswatini’s Chief Executive Officer, Polycarp Dlamini, emphasised the importance of this tournament as a platform to promote Swati culture. “This year, we need to improve our cultural representation; the different cultural groups should come up with innovative ideas to make our heritage shine.
“I believe that during these games, would be the perfect time to showcase our culture beautifully,” he said.

With enthusiasm, he proposed a delightful initiative. “If every Friday, everyone adorned themselves in traditional attire until the finals of the tournament, that would show our visitors how proud we are of our unique beauty, “he said. The idea was met with applause, igniting a sense of pride among the attendees. The Ingwenyama Cup Culture Secretary, Msandi KaBaba, also encouraged teams to register as the dates will be revealed soon.

The announcement of the prize to be won this year is also to be announced in the coming days to weeks. “All teams will register for the competition at their different imiphakatsi and no one will be allowed to join without registrations,” he said. The secretary also announced they will also conduct draws for culture teams. “This is because we are trying to avoid people wasting time and avoiding being the first to enter the arena, which causes delays, so the draws will make everything easier,” he said.
