MISS CULTURE INTERNATIONAL 2025 CANCELLED

MBABANE – The Miss Culture International pageant, scheduled for October 2025 in the country, has been cancelled.
It would have been the first time the pageant is hosted in the country through Creativity Platform studios, which is an organisation dedicated to promoting cultural beauty and talent.
This comes after the founder and director of Creativity Platform Studios Nerville Johnson, shared insights into the decision-making process that led to this cancellation. “After careful and thorough examination of the pageant, we came to an agreement that we needed to take a step back,” Johnson explained. “We had successful discussions with models from various countries who acknowledged the project’s potential but emphasised the need for meticulous planning due to challenges faced in the past, “he said.

Concerns raised by participants from last year’s pageant also reported feelings of embarrassment stemming from their experiences. Johnson noted the importance of addressing these issues cautiously. “We must clear all past differences before the next competition can take place. There is still considerable work to be done to ensure the project is handled correctly,” Johnson said.

The discussions also included insights from the previous Director of the pageant Maynard, who has since resigned, leaving the responsibility to other directors. The new management expressed its support for the event in Eswatini but insisted on maintaining its dignity and reputation. “They advised us to take some time for proper preparations before hosting the event,” Johnson said. Adding to the complexity of the situation, another pageant is set to take place in Indonesia, which is also seeking participants for Miss Culture International and Miss Teen Culture International. Johnson stated that they find themselves in a challenging position. “Models in different countries are competing for the same title, both in Africa and abroad.
After careful consideration we have decided to allow Indonesia to proceed with their event, especially since countries like Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria and Zimbabwe have already committed to their competition and not ours,” he said.

While the cancellation of Miss Culture International is disappointing for some local models who had wished to participate, Creativity Platform Studios is not leaving aspiring models without opportunities. The organisation is introducing a surprise competition during the Indigenous African Music Festival and Africa Day celebrations which are set to take place in May 2025, in Manzini. A specific venue for this event will be announced soon, promising an exciting showcase of talent and creativity. On a lighter note, it is worth noting that Miss Africa Unite will be returning to Botswana this year to fulfil its prize obligations associated with her title. While the cancellation of Miss Culture International is a setback, it opens the door for new opportunities and growth within the pageant community.  Creativity Platform Studios remains committed to fostering a nurturing environment for models, ensuring that future events are not only successful but also meaningful.
