MBABANE – The Ingwenyama Cup Culture Competition for this year will be conducted with a budget fixed at E1 200 000.
This news was revealed in the Ingwenyama Cup rules and regulations document presented on Monday during the Ingwenyama Cup soccer tournament last 32 draw at the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVA) Headquarters in Mbabane. This year’s Ingwenyama Cup marks its seventh edition, and it is worth noting that the overall sponsorship has increased significantly to over E5 million. The exact figure stands at E5 125 500. Among this generous sum, football receives the lion’s share of E3 925 000, while the Ingwenyama Cup Culture is allocated E1 200 000.

The Ingwenyama Cup Culture Chairman, Prince Sibonginkhosi, confirmed the culture sponsorship during an interview with this publication. “Yes I can confirm the amount is right, even though the proper documents have not yet been shared with me. We had agreed with the committee the amount will be as written on the rules and regulations document,” he stated.
Prince Sibonginkhosi further elaborated on how the funds are essential during the competition. “This money helps to budget for logistics, tent rentals, pay judges from the regions as well as for transport.

Highlights

‘‘This weekend we will also be organising entertainment for the grand opening of football; we will have to pay performers,” he said. This aspect of the competition not only highlights Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage but also showcases local talent, making it a vibrant gathering for culture followers in the kingdom. The Ingwenyama Cup is well-known for celebrating the diverse cultural practices and expressions of Eswatini, and this year’s competition is set to continue that tradition. The anticipation surrounding the event brings a sense of communal pride, drawing spectators and participants alike who revel in the celebration of culture through various forms of art, music and performance.

During the draw held at SMVA Headquarters on Monday, Ingwenyama Cup Culture Secretary Msandi KaBaba, announced that they will be conducting draws for culture teams. “This is because we are trying to avoid people wasting time and avoid being the first to enter the arena, which delays, so the draws will make everything easier,” he explained. This measure aims to streamline the participation process and ensure that the event runs smoothly, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for all involved. As the Ingwenyama Cup Culture Competition approaches, various cultural groups across the kingdom are preparing to showcase their unique talents and traditions. From traditional dance troupes to local artisans, the event provides a platform for diverse cultural expressions to shine.

Ultimately, the Ingwenyama Cup Culture Competition is not merely a celebration of culture; it is also an opportunity for economic stimulation and growth within the local community. The funds allocated for this vibrant event will contribute to various sectors, thereby enhancing the cultural landscape of Eswatini and promoting its rich heritage. Worth mentioning, the Ingwenyama Cup Culture Competition is yet to be launched and the competition will kick-off at regional level.
