MBABANE – Creatives from Mpumalanga in South Africa expressed their eagerness to attend the ‘Isitha’ auditions held on Friday. This information was shared by Stanley Dlamini, the Chief Executive Officer of the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC). The auditions attracted an impressive 501 participants over the weekend. Mandla N from Black Brain Pictures, alongside Sello Maake kaNcube, conveyed their admiration for the immense talent demonstrated by Eswatini artists.

Transport

According to Dlamini, the Mpumalanga creatives had already made arrangements for transport to enter the kingdom. “They were repeatedly calling saying they want to participate. They said they had organised kombis, but we said they should stop. We are aware they are emaSwati after all, but we need to seek relevant agreements for them to come join next time,” Dlamini explained. ‘Isitha: The Enemy’ is a South African television drama series created by Mandla N and Mpumelelo Nhlapo. It is an original series produced by Black Brain Pictures and serves as a spin-off from the adult-themed drama ‘The Black Door’.

Focuses

The series focuses on a fierce sibling rivalry that emerges between the Sokhulu brothers when Chuma returns home to discover his brother stepping into his former role. The increasing interest from South African creatives highlights the potential for cross-border collaborations in the entertainment industry. This creative exchange offers a unique opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent and learn from established professionals in the field.

The emaSwati who auditioned last week are set to be featured in a full documentary produced by Black Brain Pictures, as revealed by its director Mandla N. This documentary aims to spotlight the richness of talent found in Eswatini and provide a platform for local voices to be heard. This initiative not only boosts the visibility of Eswatini artists but also fosters a sense of community among those passionate about film and television.
