'OPEN CHATS PODCAST' DEBUTS ON DSTV
MBABANE – In a groundbreaking move, local podcast ‘Open Chats Podcast’ based in South Africa have been chosen as one of the networks that will be airing on DSTV.
This was revealed through a social media video by Podcast and Chill with MacG where they said that the podcasts would start airing from April 7, 2025 on DSTV channel 163.
The ‘Open Chats Podcast’ recently secured an interview with the South African Broadcasting Corporation 2 (SABC 2).This followed their win for ‘Best Podcast of the Year’ at the South African Social Media Awards (SASMA).
Discussions
The ‘Open Chats Podcast’ has taken the country by storm with its candid and thought-provoking conversations sparking discussions among young people on various topics. With over 260 000 subscribers on YouTube Mthokozisi ‘Mtho’ Methula and Sinothando ‘Sino’ Kama are the hosts of the ‘Open Chats Podcast’.
The ‘Open Chats Podcast’ will debut on Wednesday, April 9 at 5:30pm. Earlier this year when they were interviewed by SABC 2, they discussed their experiences in podcasting compared to traditional media. “There is more freedom of speech on the podcast. You can say whatever you like, it is unscripted” they said.
The YouTube podcast which is run by Kama and Methula has made a name for itself by tackling controversial topics that have their viewers hooked. These topics range from clubbing and girls to discussions about other YouTubers and TikTokers. The podcast seems to have an audience that resonates with its content. Through these discussions, the aim is to challenge norms, spark curiosity and encourage critical thinking.
As stated in their bio, the channel is designed by young people for young people and its mission is to tackle pressing and engaging societal topics, offering fresh perspectives with the help of various guest speakers.
