MANZINI – Thabile and Mzwakhe Myeni were vividly missing in action during Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors performance at the Gospel Sunday Explosion held at the Mavuso Trade Centre on Sunday.

The two are unhappy with what is being paid to them by the group’s leader and MP, Timothy Myeni.

The award winning gospel group took to the stage right after Lundi’s performance and only nine of the 11members were present. Thabile, one of the groups lead singers was nowhere to be seen, while Mzwakhe remained inside his blue Navara which was parked right behind the stage.

Mzwakhe was in the company of Lundi. It became evident that Thabile was not around when one of the other female members of the group sang her parts in some of the songs. The group performed six songs; among which were ‘Christ Died for me’, ‘Buya Nkosi Jesu’ and ‘Asikho lesinye sihlobo’.

The two are reported to have threatned to stop singing in the group until their demands for shares are met.

During his performance of the song ‘Christ died for me’ the leader of the group, Timothy Myeni said: "Asilahlani lesihlobo, noma laba sondzelene nawe bangakulahla’. This can be loosely translated as ‘Jesus does not turn his back on you even if those close to you can do so.’ When asked about this comment, Myeni said; "It is true. God never leaves or forsakes us despite the hardships we face."

Myeni further said the group would continue going strong despite all the challenges that it faced. "We will continue singing despite the members that have backslidden. We just want to thank our supporters for their continuous prayers and we promise them that the group is here to stay. I personally felt God’s presence at the venue and believe He is always at our side," continued Myeni.

When asked why Thabile and Mzwakhe were not part of the performance, Myeni said we should ask them. He said Mzwakhe was at the venue but chose not to sing with the group. He did not wish to comment any further and said; "Everybody saw Mzwakhe, why don’t you ask him why he did not join the group?"

Myeni further said the woman who sang Thabile’s parts in the songs was Samukelisiwe Manana. He explained that she joined the group long ago when Thabile had been recruited into the police force.

"It was not the first time she sang her (Thabile’s) parts. She usually assist us in that form whenever Thabile is unavailable to sing with the group," he concluded.
