EZULWINI – South Africa’s veteran spinner Vinny da Vinci took revellers through a great deep house musical journey on Saturday night.

This was during the show organised by Swaziboy Entertainment at the Boma Restaurant which was a function held to celebrate the birthdays of three of their members, DJs Wicked, Mbo and first lady Lando Dlamini.

The spinner who performed for over three hours delivered an amazing set of deep soulful house fused with deep jazzy house music that had fun lovers satisfied as they gave him rave reviews.

"This is what we came here for. This is the right kind of music that gets you dancing but in a mature manner. It is calm and entertaining at the same time and one has to feel the music deep inside to dance to it as it connects and speaks to your soul," said local soulful house music DJ Tibza.

Milo said: "Vinny da Vinci is killing it on the decks tonight and I do not regret coming here tonight. This is music, deep and soulful goodness. Vinny rocks."

"What Vinny is doing is delivering a musical lesson and entertaining the crowd all at once. This guy surely is the best in the deep house field," said another local spinner Yugo who was also among the crowd.

Playing after local spinners including Msera, Smish, Papz, Mbo and Wicked who rocked despite minor power cuts. The pint-sized deep house maestro unleashed captivating soulful deep house tunes that people could dance to despite that they were familiar with only a few of the tracks that he played.

From the onset, he won the hearts of the crowd, of about 150 people, most of whom were mature, with his wonderful music selection.

As he continued with his set, he often switched from deep soulful house to deep jazzy house music, sometimes mixing both genres, something which provoked screams of joy from his fans.

The journey through deep house music started at 2am and went until sunrise at about 5:30am and people would hardly move away from the dance floor as Vinny da Vinci captured their attention with his deep sounds.

Swaziboy Entertainment Director Mthunzi ‘Shadow’ Zwane thanked the people who attended the event and said he was very happy with the turnout as the target audience was the mature crowd who love to party but in a scenery different from a club.

"I promise that we will bring more shows of this nature from now until the end of the festive season," he added.

…then there was a E1500 bill mystery

EZULWINI – Some revellers dented the wonderful event by vanishing and leaving behind a bill of about E1 500.

This transpired at about 5:30am when the show had just ended after Vinny da Vinci had finished his over three-hour set.

As people were getting into their cars and others walking out of the venue to go back to their respective homes, they were surprised to find the main gate closed by the security personnel.

When they enquired as to why they weren’t being let out of the place, they were told that some of the revellers had left a tab of about E1 500 at the bar for mostly alcoholic drinks they had ordered.

The search was on as people waited for the guards to find the culprits and then open the gate so they could leave and after about 10 minutes, the gate was open but nobody was held accountable for the bill.

Some of the Boma Restaurant personnel who did not want to be identified conceded that it would be impossible to find the people who had ordered the drinks only to vacate the place without paying as it was evident that they left earlier on.

Meanwhile, Swaziboy Director Mthunzi ‘Shadow’ Zwane said: "We will try and find these guys but I personally do not have an idea who they are."
