The sexy LBD'
A little black dress, popularly known as the ‘LBD’, is an evening or cocktail dress, cut simply and often with a short skirt, originally made popular in the 1920s by the fashion designer Coco Channel.
The ‘LBD’ was intended by Channel to be long lasting, versatile, affordable, and accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral color.
The ‘little black dress’ is essential to complete a woman’s wardrobe, it is a ‘rule of fashion’ that every woman should own a simple, elegant black dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion: for example, worn with a jacket and pumps for the day or with more ornate jewelry and accessories for the evening.
Because it is meant to be a staple of the wardrobe for a number of years, the little black dress ideally should be as simple as possible; a short black dress that is too clearly part of a trend would not qualify because it would soon appear dated.
Besides the fact that a lot of women do not know what the ‘LBD’ is, a lot of them do not own one. That is what STYLE is here for, fashion edutainment.
So now, you have no excuse; go get yourself a ‘LITTLE BLACK DRESS’…now!
As a point of interest, we called a few ‘Style Ambassadors, asking them what an LBD is, and whether they own one? Nothing surprising with their responses.
Kathrina (Global Looks Model) – "No, I do not know what that is…..nah, I do not own one either."
Miss B (Former Mvasi Sexiest Babe) – "Huh what’s that? Oh yah I did not know you call it an ‘LBD’, but I do own one as a matter of fact.
Nokwanda Simelane (Miss SD First Princess) – "ha ha ha, of course I know what an LBD is, anyone who reads magazines would know. I have a very beautiful one, too bad I am far away; otherwise I would not mind modelling it for you."
