Bojo Mujo's Pedi accent lets him down
On the one hand, Bojo Mujo left no difference between what we listen to on CD and his live performance.
Unlike Bricks, Mujo had difficulty communicating with the audience as his Pedi accent was too strong
His dancer Mushava came to his rescue by interacting with the audience. During their performance, there was a 10 minute standstill as Bojo Mujo asked the crowd which song they wanted him to perform. People shouted on top of their voices, all with different songs in mind.
Eventually, the artist blessed them with the song ‘Jealousy’, which marked the end of his performance.
He then gave a bonus with the song ‘Unbelievable’ and with the vocals from the artist vibrating through the packed stadium, people went wild with all sorts of different dance moves.
No health messages from performers
While many people would have expected to hear advice from top artists during the Healthy Swaziland Campaign, none of them was brave enough to do that. Many artists who got the opportunity to perform would greet the audience and would talk about their new albums which are due for release. Contradicting the gist of the campaign, the artists gave their performances and evacuated the stage thereafter.
They did not educate the people on how to live a healthy life yet they are role models and their messages would have made more sense to the general public. Only Bricks seemed to have been struck by the thought but he, also asked the audience to shout healthy without talking about the purpose.
Prizes for those who tested
Government departments and organisations however, went all out to address the health issue. Some of the organisations that were present include PSI Swaziland, Select Management Services and the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP). Various stands were enacted on the field where people were given information on the services provided. There was also a stand for VCT, which many people visited to get tested.
Those who had done so were given prizes on stage after producing the card they got after being tested. The NMCP talked of an outbreak of malaria in the kingdom and the symptoms of an infected person.
Gospel groups refuse
to perform early
Many gospel artists shunned the event in the morning due to the small audience. SBIS’ Ntfombitanele who was the MC had a tough time calling artists to the stage. Musician Amazing Mthetho and his band performed for about 20 minutes and had to be called back on stage as they were the only ones willing to entertain the crowd by then.
Later on, when people started flocking, the other groups were available for performances which however had an impact on them as they were only allowed to do three songs
