Amanda lands role in SA’s upcoming movie
MBABANE - Local actress Amanda du Pont continues to shine as she has landed a role in an upcoming movie set to be out in Febru-ary.
The beautiful actress, who is daughter to businessman Hendry du Pont, is fresh from making the country proud by being part of the cast of the ongoing series Intersexions.
Romantic
The romantic movie, which is more of a comedy, is titled ‘Ithala The Reunion’ talks about a group of friends who have a reunion after seven years.
She is working with a cast made up of South Africa’s popular actors who include former Generations star Siyabonga Thwala who recently played a role in the new soapie titled Isibaya.
Shooting
Others are former Generations actor Dumisani Mbebe, Generations actor Siyabonga Radebe and Class Act finalist Mandisa Nduna.
“We are currently shooting and it is amazing working with phenomenal actors like Siyabonga and Dumisani. There is also some new talent that we are working with so it’s going to be an amazing movie,” she said.
The director of the movie is Trevor Calverly who recently won a Student Oscar award.
“The movie airs around February next year. I am happy with my career so far as I also have an Edgar’s commercial running at the moment and I will be sure to keep working the rest of the year,” she said.
Projects
She mentioned that she was now back in South Africa after graduating at the New York Film Academy where she majored in Acting for Film.
“My wish is to further my studies and get my masters degree there. But for now I’m working full time.
“For now I’m busy with this film and hopefully I will start shooting other projects as soon as I wrap up. The movie will be released in cinemas so I hope Swazis will support it.”
The young actress started her acting career when she landed a role on Generations a few years ago.
Thereafter she went on and became part of the cast of another popular soapie Muvhango and she has never looked back.
