The dreaded Moment!

Mkhulu greet the readers of this   lovely column. A lot has happened this week in as far as whyless news is concerned.
Of note though were the announcements about #Sibaya and #Election that dominated the airwaves.

We have been waiting for His Majesty to summon us to Ludzidzini for Sibaya and further we can not wait for the elections.
Unfortunately both announcements made news than conveying the desired message.
What with Tanele ‘Aw’mine’ Motsa pressing the wrong button as a result an old version of Sibaya announcement was aired. I was listening as that is my job.

Lindelwa ‘Lindz’ Mafa usually says she plays music and talk the talk and get paid.
‘Is that not lovely’ she brags and so does Mkhulu. I listen to the whyless and gets paid. How does that sound to ye-Lindz?

Good

Anyway I miss her, buya bo Mrs Good music. What I miss about Lindz is her small talk when she is in a good mood.
She is funny and plays good music, either old or new sounds plus she seems to know what good music is.
Speaking of Lindz who makes her return from leave this month means Fiona ‘Fifidope’ Russell will be not doing the breakfast show anymore.
I suggest that she co-hosts the breakfast show with Bongani ‘Bobo’ Dlamini as we can’t get enough of her. She has left a good impression on me within a short period of time.

Here are wise words to Fifidope if she wants to make it in the broadcasting industry, you can do anything you put your mind to...(sourced from Kendrick Lamar’s prize winning speech).
Need I say more, be humble and keep yourself up to date on all the trending news lapho you’ll sure win the listeners’ hearts.

Watch out on those announcements

After the blunder by Aw’mine, I have a lot to say about the announcements aired on SBIS. Firstly I do not want to sound like I am crucifying Aw’mine but she should be careful as this may cost her job next time.
That was an egregious mistake and it should not happen again. Angikho lapho kahle kahle, I am worried how and when regular special announcements should be aired.

The contents in some of these announcements for example the one on elections is misleading.
It urges listeners to take note of what they were given by those campaigning. I will rephrase in siSwati “Sive singakushayi indiva loko lebesinikwa kona”.
Siswati silukhuni impela as that message denotes that one must not vote for those who handed them goodies as kind gestures kani bayakhankasa ngaleyo ndlela.

Goose

Another announcement which gave me have goose bumps is that of scholarships.
You know that announcement is aired anytime even at 3am.
We all know that those wanting scholarship balele kusele bogogo baluka ema-cansi and few avid listeners like boQueen, Sweet Mancanca, Seven Days and Slow Khumalo just to name a few.

Speaking of Slow I should commend umtu-kulu for writing mind blowing letters to the editor especially the last one he wrote on feminism.
Umtukulu is really intelligent yeyi abamvotele eNkhundleni yakhe mani.
I am proud of him because he is my product (he used to ask via email how can he become a columnist and I told him to read and write letters to the editor on different subjects... its an open secret that 70 per cent of Times columnists were avid readers and contributors to the newspaper thus they were recruited to write for the newspaper like yours truly, Qalakaliboli Dlamini, Kaya Mpembe and Burns Dlamini.

I wish something good can be done for loyal listeners too. Me and straying again, kuguga I was saying they should play the important announcement during prime time like after 6am news or after Letishi-sako program-me.
Lastly it can be much cooler if they advertise pro-grammes and broadcasters when they play and each announcer’s time slot. That helps people to listen to radio thus increasing listenership.

Please don’t kill my vibe Madlenya

It is really disturbing when an announcer mistakes an artist’s name.
The other night during the graveyard slot Sipho ‘Ma-dlenya’ Gamedze surprised me after playing a track by Justin Bieber –‘As long as you love me’.

He said it was Justin Maber. Ngumhlolo muni lo?... that was really misleading and it is such minor mistakes that make the listeners lose trust and thus you lose listeners.
Angikacendzi ngaphose ngahamba ngavulele tin-khomo kuya edibhi as you told us that the time was nine to four yet it was an hour earlier.

Programmes repeated consecutively

My high blood pressure rises whenever I listen to a repeated programme.
Actually I had decided to focus on the programmes that are not repeated but then kuyangala. Let me say something maybe batongiva.
Like at the moment Khalamdumbadumbane and The gospel programme which is presented by Mbuso ‘Do it Again’ Ntjingila (name eludes me) have been repeated for consecutively times now.

\
What’s worse they repeat the same episodes week-in and week-out.
Please I know you have a busy schedule but within your limited time make the listeners of these show a priority.
We love the programmes because they bring variety plus cultural wise siyasi-takala and spiritual wise. Ngiyabonga mine.
