Gold Lion Festival dates to be confirmed soon

MBABANE – The Gold Lion Film Festival event dates will be confirmed soon.

Speaking on behalf of the festival James Hall said they intend to host the festival between October and November.
 Last year the festival was hosted at the popular House on Fire at Mahlanya in November were film critics, actors, actresses as well as relevant stakeholders and filmmakers gathered to watch some of the short films that were presented including some that featured Swazi actors, actresses and filmmakers.

“We are still collecting and going through a number of films and will announcer the proper dates for the screenings and festival soon,” said Hall.
He said they were also still working on the final stages of deciding where this year’s film festival will be hosted. Last year’s event was a great success and was hosted in collaboration with Standard Bank with former Mr Swaziland and Mr Swaziland pageant Director Okwakhe Dlamini as one of the Programme Directors of the festival.

Other short film screenings were done at the United States of America Embassy and featured filmmakers from America who wowed the audience with their amazing short films about people close to them and where they come from among other topics.

In a previous article the Swaziland Independent Film and Television Producers Association (SIFTPA) advised film lovers to become members of their organisation and support the industry to ensure that the industry grows and becomes more than just a hobby but a full time career.
