MBABANE- Swaziland Posts and Telecommu-nications (SPTC) have bought five categories in the National Arts and Culture Awards.

The categories are being sold to organisations at E10 000 each. Buying the categories gives companies the naming rights and on the night of the ceremony, they are given the honour to present the winner with the prize in the division they bought.

The categories bought by the company include SPTC Song of the Year, Phutfumani Artist of the Year, Swazi Post Best Choral Soloist, Swazi.Net Contemporary Dance Group of the Year and Video of the Year.

Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture CEO Stanley Dlamini said this leaves them with nine categories still outstanding.
“We still have nine categories that have not been bought. However, we have organisations that have registered their interest in buying the divisions. Hopefully, by the end of the week all the divisions would already have been bought,” Dlamini said.

He said as council they were grateful for the interest shown by all the companies that have supported this event by buying the categories.
Dlamini encouraged artists to make sure that they were nominated for the awards and not to miss out on the ceremony.

“I would like to encourage artists to ensure that they are nominated in the different categories they qualify for. This is their responsibility as artists,” the CEO said. Closing date for the National Arts and Culture awards nominations is August 30.

The Awards ceremony will be held on October 26 at the Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre.
