MBABANE – Miss Deaf 2012 second princess Nelisiwe Dlamini is expected to represent the country in the Miss Deaf World Beauty Pageant. The pageants scheduled for June this year will take place in Prague, Europe.

Miss Deaf Beauty Pageant Director Nokuthula Mbatha with the assistance of the Swaziland Deaf Association (SDA) is already working on the logistics that will see the beauty queen taking part in the pageant.
Neliwe is currently in Cape Town where she is studying after being awarded a scholarship by the Deafnet Foundation.
During the trip, Nelsiwe is expected to be accompanied by an interpreter together with a chaperone.

Mbatha confirmed that they were planning to take Nelisiwe to represent the country in Miss Deaf 2014/2015 beauty pageant.
“We received an invitation from the Miss Deaf World Beauty Pageant committee and we were informed that most of the expenses would be catered for. I then suggested that since we have not had a beauty pageant since 2012, it would be wise to forward Nelisiwe’s name,” she said.

She said the reason she suggested Nelisiwe was because she has the required experience required in most pageants. “She participated in Miss Deaf Africa in 2012 where she was exposed to the bigger stage. Currently she is in Cape Town at school and the fact that there are students who have taken part in pageants next to her is a sign that she can lift the country’s flag high,” she said.

Mbatha said she had already forwarded Nelisiwe’s name to SDA and asked them to make arrangements that she be released from school.
“They said they would make all means to see to it that she takes part in the pageant. As a person who is in charge of the pageant locally, I have confidence in the girl and I know she has the potential of lifting the country’s flag high,” she said.

She said once they agree to release Nelisiwe at school she will then start preparing everything for her to be in a position of going to Europe.
Makhosini Makhubu, SDA Directors said they gave all the responsibility of the pageant to Mbatha and therefore she was the right person to contact. SDA recently took the decision of bringing back Mbatha to be in charge of the pageant. Mbatha resigned last year, stating that there were issues that were beyond her control which led her to take the decision of resigning.
