MBABANE – Only a few weeks after being crowned Mr Swaziland, the 21-year -old Bonelelwe Makhanya is using his platform to spread his wings internationally.

The native from Hlatsi this week met with a South African based talent developing agency, Talentinc, to discuss the possibility of taking part in amongst others, the New York Fashion Week in 2015.

The country’s most handsome young man has already met with Octavia Mamabolo who is a communications and media relations expert and has assisted Miss South Africa and Mr South Africa in being more eloquent.
The partnerships have been facilitated by South Africa based Pilgrimage Party host Dumsani Hlophe who is known in the entertainment circles as ‘Mr Kunjalo’.

“Mr South Africa and his team will also be meeting us on this trip to help groom him for the bigger stage that he will encounter at Mr World,” confirmed Mr Swaziland Director Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini.
Makhanya, whose whole objective is to inspire young people and also focus the world’s attention on Swaziland sees this as an opportunity to do just that.

“Swaziland has so much to offer and I want to make use of every opportunity to market our country across all borders. To possibly take part in New York Fashion Week would be a dream come true and a wonderful opportunity to showcase Swaziland and its culture,” Makhanya says.
Talentinc consists of industry leaders including artists and model, Andries Hendrik Potgieter, former SABC journalist, Sya van der Walt, entrepreneur and business woman Lourine Wannenburg.

The group has a proven track record having placed young talent on international platforms. Potgieter has just returned from New York where he participated in New York Fashion Week as a model and also used the opportunity to showcase a new South African clothing line that he’s involved with, FLEAQ.

“The international market is in love with Africa and we are confident that they’ll jump at the opportunity to work with such a talented and spirited young man,” says Andries Hendrik Potgieter.

Makhanya is also set to receive intense media and portfolio training to enable him to represent Swaziland on both local and international platforms. He will also undergo intense preparations for the upcoming Mr World Competition in June.
