MBABANE – There will be no South African gospel artists performing during the upcoming Simunye Fun Fair Gospel Sunday.
Instead only local artists will be performing on the Sunday where people will gain free entrance.

The fun fair organisers have tasked the Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland (ACASWA) to be in charge of the show.
ACASWA has made it clear that it has no plans of roping in South African artists into the festival but instead they believe in using the opportunity to promote local talent.

Mhlonishwa Motsa, ACASWA President, confirmed that they have no plans of involving South African artists in this year’s festival.
“We intend to make this year’s festival one of the best festivals and this will happen through involving local artists. We have already engaged a number of well-known artists locally who have shown keen interest of taking part in the festival,” he said.

Motsa said when they presented their proposal to the fun fair organisers, they had made it clear that they intended using local talent especially on the Sunday.
“ACASWA has hosted a number of shows where local artists have proved to be crowd pullers on their own. It is the same thing that will happen at Simunye.  Gospel music lovers should come prepared to see performances of all the top local artists,” he said.
Motsa said they were currently working on the line-up which would be released before the end of next week.

“We are trying to finalise the list of artists who will be performing in the afternoon as we have about eight hours. We also want the artists to have enough time on stage. Gospel music lovers have been complaining that artists were not given enough time on the stage,” Motsa said.
Thea Litschka could not be reached for comment as her phone rang unanswered. However she had indicated in an earlier interview that they had included professionals to be in charge of the Sunday show which she confirmed would be free to the public.
