It’s a sunny Wednesday afternoon in Manzini, when I meet Apostle Whatmore Makwara with his beautiful wife Irene.

The two lovebirds reveal how they met, and how they have sustained their marriage for the last 13 years, and are still going strong.
Irene is from Tanzania and went to St Marks High School. The Apostle is from Zimbabwe and he studied there at Rimuka High School and completed in 2004.

Leadership

He holds a BA Degree in Bible and Theology from Global University and Leadership from Haggai Institute.
The Apostle is the first to narrate how they met. “We met at the Theology College back in 2000, where we were both studying. I was doing my last year and it was her first year.’’  They became friends, by April they started courting.  Irene reminds her hubby that they got engaged the same year in August. “We were engaged for more than a year, as we tied the knot the following year, in December 2001.’’

Blessed

The couple glances at each other while they narrate their love story. The couple has been blessed with three children, two girls and one boy.
Irene shares with me a few things about her husband.
“He is vey patient, and a loving husband. He puts me first as his wife. He is my mentor.’’

Great

The Apostle plays with the children when they come from school according to Irene. She further adds that he is a great father.
The Apostle also has nothing, but praise for his wife. ‘’My wife is my strength, she holds the family together. She is an amazing mum, and we have raised amazing children together.’’

The couple let me in on a few secrets on why their marriage has lasted.  Nothing is strong enough to break a marriage except for the two people involved, unless they decide on giving up on the marriage. Communication, couples must learn to communicate with each other and not be afraid of judgment. They must be closer to God.
The Apostle said his wife told him, when she was looking for a husband, she looked for a man who loved God more than anything.

Founder

He is the founder and president of FWCI School of Ministry that held its first graduation in August 2011 on Diploma in Leadership and Pastoral ministry.
He has also written five books. Among other things he is a TV and radio personality, and international speaker.
He is the founder of Family Worship Centre International (FWCI), a ministry that held its first service March 1, 2009 in Matsapha Swaziland after pasturing a church in Manzini for eight years under Sword and Spirit Ministries.

Apostle Whatmore is also a founder and president of Family Word which hosts life coaching seminars themed Date with Identity (DWI), which empowers people through kingdom principles and practical tools for the eight areas of life namely: Spiritual, Physical, Mental, Family, Social, Financial, Vocational and Leadership.
