SA GOSPEL STAR NONTANDO IS DEAD

MBABANE – Renowned South African gospel artist Nontando Ngcobo is no more. The talented singer passed away on Monday night following an illness, which she confessed to Mduduzi Simelane about two months ago.
Simelane is the lead singer of the group Mduduzi Nezinceku Zamagawugawu and Umlilo Production, which is under the directorship of Simelane.
Ngcobo was part of Simelane’s Gospel Crossover show at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre where she revealed that she was now part of the Umlilo family. The 35- year -old deceased was in a love relationship with a Swazi pastor known as Mavela Mbatha of the Zion Church.
Simelane who spoke on behalf of the company confirmed the sad news. Mbatha when called pleaded to be contacted at a later stage as he was too traumatised to talk.
“I have just received the news hence I am still shocked but I can confirm that Nontando died on Monday as I had direct contact with her as far as work is concerned. About two months ago she called me and mentioned that she was sick. She highlighted that she suspected that she was poisoned as she had discomfort in her stomach, which doctors were still trying to figure out,” said Simelane. He further explained that he was heartbroken as they had bigger projects in line, which culminated from their collaboration in December. This included her 11th album as she had produced 10 of them.
Simelane also mentioned that he has been receiving a lot of sympathy from fans that were touched by her performance during the Gospel Crossover and I am so humbled with such.
“I have been in contact with her fiancée who stays in Maseyisini and he is so devastated as he truly loved the deceased. Their love was evident as Nontando mentioned during her performance at the Gospel Crossover that she was dating a Swazi,” he said.
South African Singer Sifiso Ncwane also posted on his Facebook account around midnight about the passing away of Ngcobo and by early morning yesterday he had over 200 condolences messages from the artists’ fans, some commenting in disbelief.
