INGREDIENTS OF SUCCESS

SINCE life is a journey, we must all endeavour to understand predictable patterns, laws and principles that usually accompany successful lifestyles. All of us want to experience success during this journey of life. Life is the most precious gift from God and should be lived intentionally, purposefully and effectively. It is important for each of us to live a quality life and maximise our potential during our lifetime.

Understanding the laws and principles that govern a successful life is very key to moving forward. These laws are indispensable to realising our full potential. If we consistently violate these laws, frustration and underachievement in all our endeavours will be our portion. A law or principle is that which is laid or fixed. As a matter of fact, a law is a principle based on the predictable consequences of an act. When we understand and organise our lives according to the principles that govern life our moving forward and success will be predictable.

Self discovery is the starting point of moving forward in life. Self discovery will always unveil purpose and vision. Purpose is more important than money, fame or popularity. When you become clear about whom you are and what you want in life, you can begin to practice the law of seed time and harvest. The Bible declares; “Whatsoever a man sows, that also shall he reap.” Success in life is not an accident. Sir Isaac Newton said; “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” The Law of Thinking is one of the key laws that we must be careful about.

Thought is creative; thoughts are like seeds. Our thought life is the preliminary and fundamental creative force in our lives. Through your thoughts, you actually create your world. When you change your thinking, you have begun changing your life. You actually are becoming what you think about most of the time. It is usually said; “It is not what happens to you but how you think about what happens to you that determines how you feel and react.” At the end of the day it’s our choice, no one forces us to think, feel or act the way we do.

We usually choose our emotions and behaviours by the way we choose to think, interpret, and explain what is happening to us or to the world around us.
For instance when we receive good news our attitude brightens up , and we feel good and become positive towards life and people around us; but when we receive bad news, even if the news is untrue or inaccurate, we all of a sudden become sad, angry, upset and feel down.

Usually the way we interpret and explain the situation to ourselves determine the way we feel and react. We must honestly analyze the way we think about ourselves, our families, our work, our finances and our health in order to move forward.  Your thoughts may be causing, creating, and even maintaining the circumstances around your life. Every advance in life begins with seeds of ideas. Ideas are the keys that unlock several doors to our future. We must learn how to think creatively and always do something new and different.

New Ideas will always move us forward in life. Napoleon Hill once said; “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Faith is not just mental assent but a living force that has power to govern your attitude and actions. In life, we will always act in a manner consistent with our faith. Wrong belief about self is a breeding ground for unhealthy competition, fear and doubt. We must learn to believe in ourselves and in that potential that God has put in us. Shake off doubt and fear from your life and arise above every perceived limitation. We must always believe that we are able to succeed and make it in life. Believe that you have what it takes to make it.

The law of faith works with the law of expectation. No matter what we are going through in life, we must always expect the best. When things go wrong in any area of our lives, we must not overreact; rather understand that to everything there is a season and a purpose.

Wisdom is hindsight, insight and foresight. Understanding where you are coming from, where you are going, and where you are in the journey of life is key to moving forward. The law of change demands that we embrace and adapt to change in the context of where we are in the stages of the journey of life. We must always practice the law of balance in order to stay on course and advance in life. Each of us must be responsible and accountable for the time, resources, relationships, finances and jobs in our lives so as to advance our families, communities and nation.
