A biblical constitution for SD

As mentioned before, I am calling for the removal of the curse that Swaziland is currently under by accepting God’s Law as the Supreme Law of the land.


In this article I wish to address how the Holy Bible addresses politics or governance.
As I mentioned before, God’s Law is perfect; therefore it addresses every issue in a perfect way.
Let us consider what the Holy Bible says.


Ex:18:13: And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.
Ex:18:14: And when Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people?


Why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?
Ex:18:15: And Moses said unto his father-in-law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:
Ex:18:16: When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.


Ex:18:17: And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.
Ex:18:18: Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.


Ex:18:19: Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to Godward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:
Ex:18:20: And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.


The above verses and more are complemented by the verses below.
De:1:12: How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance and your burden and your strife?
De:1:13: Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.


De:1:14: And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.
De:1:15: So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.


In summary, there is a King who appoints chiefs, tindvuna (governors), tibondza (Elders), etc to judge, govern, and look after the welfare of the people.
This process is inclusive of every citizen.
Every citizen would have a Sibondza, Indvuna and a chief.


Depending on the community, you may have a Council of Elders reporting to a governor; a Council of Governors reporting to a chief and finally a council of Chiefs reporting to the King.
For practical purposes, the Council of chiefs may report to a Regional Chief or a Tinkhundla Chief as may be the case. Communication is up and down.
Going up from the grassroots are cumbrances, burdens, strife requests, views, and wishes. Coming down are decrees, judgements, commands, resolutions, requests, views, and wishes; all this done in fear of the Lord God.


Swaziland already has the biblical model in the form of imiphakatsi (chiefdoms).
What has to happen is to escalate Tinkhundla (constituencies) to chiefdoms.
This set-up effectively removes the western style of Parliament, cabinet and the judiciary.
All these activities are delegated to the individual citizen rising up to the King.
For Swaziland, this would mean strengthening the Swazi Law and Customs.
Imiphakatsi and their activities would have to be properly instituted to include all three arms of governing.
It is common knowledge that in Swaziland a chief may be a prince, chief or governor.
We then have baGijimi (chief’s runners), elders and various committees etc.


De:16:18: Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.
De:16:19: Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.
Should Swaziland choose the Holy Bible as its Constitution, then the Parliamentary/Governing/Judiciary structures may hierarchically be listed as follows:
*  The Constitutional Court - The  Throne of God Almighty, where the law comes from.
*   The Supreme Court- King in Council
*   The High Court - Council of Regional Chiefs each region may have a High Court.
*   Magistrate Court - Council of Chiefs – (Tinkhundla)
*   Ndabazabantu - Chiefs imiphakatsi
*    Tibondza
*   Homesteads


Of note to remember is that the concept of a High Court, Magistrate Court, etc is no longer as per the Roman/Dutch Law.
The terms are only used to draw a parallel to the biblical concept.


The same structures may be used for duties currently delegated to Parliament and the Cabinet.
The Holy Bible clearly tells us that God is in charge of both our blessings and curses.
Issues of rain, drought, health, sickness, wealth, poverty, peace, war etc. are all in God’s hands. It is up to us as a nation to make the right choice and do the right thing.


I therefore urge the nation to choose the God of our forefathers over money. The God of Somhlolo is the God of Israel.
As a way forward, a King’s Decree would be sufficient to terminate the Roman/Dutch Law. A good crop of Parliamentarians may also move to replace the current Constitution with the Holy Bible.


The Holy Bible would then be the Constitution and all the functions of Governance moved to the people from the level of chiefdoms up to the King-in-Council.
These include parliamentary and Judiciary functions.


The Cabinet would reside at Lobamba and we would have a true People’s Parliament.
Some people might think that because we now live in a so called modern era, the ways of the past are no longer useful.


One thing to remember is that God is timeless and so are His Laws which were completed for us by Jesus Christ.
The Children of Israel strayed from God on numerous occasions; this should be a lesson for us today that even when we have strayed to the point that we are now under God’s curse, we can go back to the God of our fathers; the God of King Somhlolo for He is the God of Israel.
Jesus Christ amended some Laws from the Old Testament; he also touched on the issue of judgement.


M’t:17:1: And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart.
M’t:17:2: And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.


M’t:17:3: And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
In future, we shall look at examples of how this Biblical structure may be applied today.
