Times Of Swaziland: EIPA SEEKS TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES EIPA SEEKS TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES ================================================================================ Nhlanganiso Mkhonta on 24/04/2024 15:12:00 MBABANE – EIPA Chief Executive Officer Sibani Mngomezulu says a strategy to enhance exports from Eswatini to India will be formulated and put in place to create opportunities for local businesses. Mngomezulu said through the strategy, the local businesses would then start enjoying the full benefits of the current trade agreement that Eswatini currently has in place with India. The CEO said as a result of the meeting with the Indian High Commissioner to Eswatini Ram Prasaad, EIPA will also have access to Invest India, the Indian trade and investment promotion agency, for benchmarking purposes. He said EIPA would get to engage its Indian counterpart on capacity building on a number of issues involving trade and investment promotion. He revealed that the Indian High Commission has been invited by EIPA to exhibit at the Eswatini International Trade Fair this year (2024). “It is hoped that their participation in 2024 will result in increased participation in 2025 with big corporations from India showing an interest in the trade exhibitions,” he said. Mngomezulu mentioned that India had also made available its technology expertise to look at ways of adding further value to the tourism and financial services sectors in Eswatini. Support He said meetings with various stakeholders in the public sector would be held over the next few months to find ways of fully utilising this support for the good of emaSwati. He highlighted that EIPA had also been invited by the Indian High Commission to attend the bank conclave meeting to take place in India in August. He said this meeting creates a platform for different stakeholders in financial services to discuss the challenges and opportunities they face in an effort to realise sustainable growth. “A private sector delegation will form part of the attendees from Eswatini,” he said.
