The Swaziland Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) have unveiled Princess Sakhizwe as its patron. Princess Sakhizwe was officially unveiled as the association’s patron during a private meeting held this past week. The meeting was also aimed at introducing the new SWAMA executive committee, headed by Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini, to the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala. Meeting Present during the meeting was the ministry’s Principal Secretary, Prince Mlayeto, Director of Art, Phinda Nkosi, Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) board member Mphosi Mamba and SNCAC CEO Stanley Dlamini as well as the new executive committee. The minister extended a warm welcome to the new executive and further shared some words of wisdom. Meanwhile, the introduction of the patron follows a fruitful meeting held between the new SWAMA executive and the CEO of SNCAC. In a statement, the patron congratulated the new Swaziland Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) executive committee for their historic election into office. She said this was historic in the sense that this new executive was made up of young Swazis of great integrity, and who have an impressive track record in the development and growth of the arts sector in this country. “This marks a historic and joyous moment for me, and indeed for the arts and music sector in the Kingdom of Swaziland, as the new SWAMA executive has seen it befitting that I serve the association as patron. I am quite humbled to accept such an honour, as it resonates with my deep passion for arts and my artistic sense,” she said.
