MBABANE – On May 18, the Lubombo Region will come alive with the spirit of
Africa as it hosts the highly anticipated Lubombo Dance Competition.
With its Africa Day theme, this event promises to be a celebration of culture,
creativity and community. Held at Siteki Park, the competition will feature an
exciting lineup of activities including live music, poetry, drama, a fashion
show and a captivating cultural troupe. In addition, the event will also host
the Miss Teen Eliminations, adding an extra touch of glamour to the festivities.
Bongiwe Silawula who is part of the organising team highlighted that
preparations were ongoing and the competition was seemingly going to be great.
From 10am to 4pm, dance enthusiasts from across the region will showcase their
talent and passion on the grand stage. The competition has a few rules in place
to ensure fairness and equal opportunities for all participants. Dance groups
are required to have a minimum of three members, fostering teamwork and
collaboration. Individual participation is not allowed, emphasising the
importance of collective spirit and unity. To keep the focus on the artistry of
the performances, dance attire is required to be simple yet functional.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable track pants, sneakers and
t-shirts, allowing them to freely express themselves through movement and
rhythm.
