Times Of Swaziland: US EMBASSY AUCTION PACKS BIDDERS US EMBASSY AUCTION PACKS BIDDERS ================================================================================ BY KWANELE DHLADHLA on 25/05/2018 09:21:00 MBABANE – Bidders at the United States (US) Embassy auction meant serious business. From motor vehicles to office equipment, houseware, electrical and outdoor equipment, bidders did not miss the opportunity to purchase items at bargain prices. The nearly 80 people who crammed the embassy’s site at Kent Rock hiked prices by more than 200 per cent from initial offers accepted by Rexy’s Investments Auctioneer Melusi Qwabe. One such example of an item which was hiked above bidders’ expectations was an air conditioner where E500 had been offered by the initial bidder but eventually went under the hammer for E4 000. The lowest item purchased was a typewriter which was sold for only E100. It should be mentioned that for most of the items which were sold there was no reserve price but bidders were invited to make bids since the interested buyers had an opportunity to view the items which were auctioned on Wednesday between 2 and 4 pm. Bidders who participated at the auction were made to pay a refundable deposit of E5 000 if they want to bid for vehicles. If interested buyers paid a refundable deposit of E2 000.
