This was disclosed by the company through a press statement; which stated that the name change came into effect from February 1, 2020. In the statement, the company revealed that ‘A fresh era arrives for the Eswatini dairy industry this year as a new player enters the local market’. “The company has decided to incorporate the country’s name change with the group’s global alignment toward its parent company the Lactalis Group,” reads the statement in part. It was also revealed that this was a name change only and it would not impact the company’s existing range of products, brands, projects or business operations. Lactalis Eswatini, emphasised the company, would remain the home of quality and trusted brands such as Umcenge, Emndeni, Emvelo, Eselwa, Lobhalaza, Parmalat, Cabana, Melrose, Président and SteriStumpie, as well as, PureJoy and Galbani. It stated that these familiar brands held strong positions across several dairy product categories, ranging from maas, cheese, yoghurt, milk, and custard, to flavoured milk, cream, drinking yoghurt, fruit beverages and butter. “Parmalat Swaziland has been part of the international Lactalis family for the past nine years already since the Lactalis Group bought Parmalat in 2011. The local name change to Lactalis Eswatini not only incorporates the country’s name change but is also the final step towards fully integrating the Eswatini operations with its international parent company.” merges The company said: “In Eswatini, the expertise and legacy of the international Lactalis Group now merges with local dairy know-how and passion that has provided jobs and wholesome dairy products in Eswatini since 1999.
