MBABANE – CARE Air-Conditioning (Pty) Ltd has been enlisted as the best
evaluated tenderer to be awarded the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority
(EIPA) tender.
EIPA issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the supply and installation of
heating ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and three companies responded.
These were Jordan Refrigeration (Pty) Ltd, Usizo Technical Services, and CARE
Air-Conditioning. Worth noting, all the companies that showed interest for the
tender were local. EIPA intends to award the tender to Care Air, and their total
evaluated scores were not revealed. It was noted that Jordan Refrigeration (Pty)
Ltd’s evaluated price was E5 161 463.20, while Usizo’s evaluated price was
E4 444 986.38.
CARE Air proposed the highest price when compared to the two other companies;
they proposed E5 296 604.25, which was E135 141.05 higher.
The above-mentioned was published by the procurement regulating authority, the
Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA) on their website. The
intention to award the company was published yesterday, and if it is not
contested, they are expected to begin executing it after 10 working days. As the
requesting entity, EIPA was also in charge of the procurement of the tender as
well as its approvals. EIPA requested unsuccessful bidders to apply for review
with the agency within 10 working days. “All tenderers who submitted bids are
hereby notified that a period of 10 working days is hereby allowed for
submission of any application for review,” said EIPA.
Facilitated
Worth noting, EIPA and Taiwan Trade (TAITRA) facilitated the participation of
Eswatini-based traders in the Giftionery and Culture Creative Show 2023 in
Taipei, Taiwan. Eswatini’s participation in this trade show forms part of
Eswatini’s efforts to deepen trade relations with Taiwan under the Economic
Cooperation Agreement signed in 2018, while also encouraging trade between local
companies and highly profitable potential markets in Taiwan.
Companies from Eswatini will be represented by the Eswatini Embassy in Taiwan
and TAITRA, as their products will be shipped to and displayed at the Eswatini
exhibition stand. EIPA manager of external trade Sibusiso Mnisi said: “We are
pleased to once again invite traders to exhibit their products at Giftionery and
Culture Creative 2023. This will allow them to diversify their market access and
hopefully grow their businesses through enhancing their export trade
capability.”
Covid-19
Mnisi said Eswatini has participated before, but due to COVID-19 travel
restrictions, traders were represented by Eswatini’s Embassy in Taiwan.
He said this time around they would be able to represent themselves and be in a
position to present the products to potential buyers or distributors, undertake
market research on key factors, and examine the structure of the creative
industries in Taiwan and Asia. These exhibitions have benefited local companies
as trade between Eswatini and Taiwan has increased to US$ 2.3 million (about E38
394 069) based on the EIPA 2020 Trade Analysis report and is largely dominated
by products in the foods and beverages sector.
