MTN Eswatini has roped in South African rapper AKA, to give The Spotlight fans a super mega concert during the big reveal of the first season of The Spotlight winner. The highly anticipated concert, which also seeks to promote responsible behaviour, will mark the end of the first season of the competition launched by MTN Eswatini in July. It is billed to take place at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre Hall 1 on November 23, 2019. The ‘Fella in Versace’ hit maker is expected to also have a collaborative performance with The Spotlight Top 3. This was disclosed by MTN Chief Marketing Officer Sylvia Otuo-Acheampong, during a press conference of the show held yesterday at the company’s head office in Ezulwini. AKA will perform alongside local award-winning artists including Mdura, Velemseni, Mozaik, Nomalungelo and Sands. Massive “We have no doubt that this will be a massive concert that will create an unforgettable moment not only for the winner of the first season of The Spotlight, but also to the fans of the competition who have been following it with keen interest and having their say each week through voting,” said Otuo-Acheampong. Through The Spotlight, MTN Eswatini’s objective is to unearth the kingdom’s hidden music gems by putting them in ‘The Spotlight’, which means, giving them a platform to unleash their potential. Acheampong said The Spotlight is also a key component of MTN-Pulse, a rocking lifestyle, community and an attitude that is embraced by those who choose to rise above their fear and live up to their full potential. “It is for the young at heart and mind who understand what MTN can do to support their hustles and ambitions - those who have no fear to pursue their passions, regardless of what the world might say. And this is the spirit that we have seen from The Spotlight competition,” she said. The competition received close to 1 000 entries which have now been cut to the top eight. “We dearly thank the public for embracing and owning The Spotlight. This is shown by the upward trajectory in the number of votes coming in every week. We are already sitting at over 1 00 000 votes ever since the launch of the voting process about seven weeks ago. Last week only, we received just over 36 000 votes,” she said. Otuo-Acheampong encouraged especially the youth, to ensure that they secure the concert ticket via MTN Mobile Money. The concert ticket costs E150. Through this concert, Acheampong said they are also promoting a responsible youth. “We will partner with a motivational speaker to encourage responsible behaviour leading to the event. On another note, each week, before The Spotlight Shutdown Concert, MTN will be giving away five tickets to lucky winners.
