Times Of Swaziland: KICK IT RADIO IN TOP APPLE PODCASTS KICK IT RADIO IN TOP APPLE PODCASTS ================================================================================ BY THEMBELANI NHLABATSI on 21/09/2020 23:24:00 MBABANE – Kick it. Most probably the only local podcasts on Apple Podcasts, ‘Kick It Radio’s’ ‘No Name, No Label’, ‘Bhubesi ROARS’, as well as ‘Nobody Hates you, Nthabiseng’, are listed in the top 10 on the platform. The podcasts are number four, five and six behind Steve Job’s ‘Academy of Achievement’, ‘The Happy Start up School’ and Open University Malaysia’s podcast on financial management. Excitement Speaking to the Entertainment Desk, Sizwe Mabuza, who is the brains behind Kick It Radio expressed his excitement at the news. He said he had not looked at the charts for a long, while until a point in time when he was looking for something new to listen to. “I saw our position on the charts and could not believe it, that not only one of the podcasts was in the top 10, but all three of them from Kick It Radio,” he shared beaming with excitement. Growth Mabuza further shared that he believed that this was growth towards the right direction for the brand itself. He highlighted that leading to its formation; there were never any planned strategies. “When things like this happen, it helps to increase our value and reach,” he said. Mabuza also shared that this would not have been possible without emaSwati, who have listened to the amazing works shared on the platform. “A lot of people have been listening to all three podcasts and have also shared mind blowing testimonials about the lessons they picked from the podcasts,” he remarked. The online platform is only a few months in existence as Mabuza shared that Kick It Radio was formed on his birthday in May this year. This makes it part of the innovative products, which have come out in the local entertainment scene within the lockdown period. Sentiments Also sharing similar sentiments was Samantha Rudd, who is the main presenter for Bhubesi ROARS. Rudd said the milestone was huge and humbling experience, because she had also started doing podcasts on the platform this year. “Never in my wildest thoughts did I think we would chart this high,” she expressed. Rudd, who also has many talents other than radio including baking and singing, shared that when she started the conversations on Instagram TV and eventually on podcast, all she wanted to do was to change at least one person’s life. Podcasts “Being part of the top 10 Apple Podcasts goes beyond that mandate because it means more people are listening and their lives are changed. It is incredibly motivating and hopefully we will get to reach bigger and broader platforms. SWAMA Public Relation s Officer, Bongani Tizalami Dube, shared that the association was extremely proud of various artists, who are making an imprint on international platforms. “They are Eswatini’s immediate ambassadors of excellence in the arts,” he said. Dube further lauded the podcasters for riding on the digital wave especially during the hard times of COVID-19 era in turn making an impact beyond the local borders.
