MBABANE – RnB songbird Zoë Genesis hit the Twitter streets on Monday evening
announcing her retirement from singing.
The artist, whose real name is Zoë Nonde said she took the decision to retire
from music last Wednesday, where she performed for the last time during her
interview with KrTC on DTTV’s live stream.
Zoë Genesis came into the limelight in 2016, when she was signed as an artist
under standstill mafia by its owner Siboniso ‘Boss’ Dlamini.
Both Siboniso and the RnB superstar had attended the same primary school in the
country’s capital city.
Renowned
She mentioned renowned rappers such as MasterSeth and Ncwiki Flex, who helped
kick start her solo career by featuring her on their singles in turn allowing
her to explore her writing skills.
She subsequently met Mozaik the Producer, real name Muzi Ngwenya, whom she
regards as a legend in her eyes as well as a great music teacher.
“With him, I rendered hits like Genesis, King, Grinding, Naked and most
recently Phree, which she featured MTN Spotlight finalist the Sensational
Oxygen,” she said.
Support
The song bird narrated that Mozaik doubled as a supportive brother and music
partner because he gave her all the advice and support she needed when she came
to him about changing her path.
Prior to her announcement on social media, Zoë Genesis told this publication
that she would focus her energy on being a concept developer and style creator
and she had already started doing the groundwork with artists such as Yemaa and
Oxygen.
Most importantly, the artist shared that she had received massive support from
industry players in coming to terms with what she had now set her eyes upon.
Thanked
She thanked former President Eswatini Music and Arts Association, Melusi
‘Zox’ Dlamini, for allowing her ideas to be shared and explored with the
association’s office.
Melusi then wished her well on her future endeavours and subsequently
appreciated her cheerful, talented and hardworking nature.
Meanwhile, Siboniso expressed the honour he had while working with the artist
and further wished her well.
