Local model Nolwazi ‘Snowee’ Simelane’s star is soaring high. After gracing a number of international runways, Eswatini-born top model has done it again. She has been nominated under the Model of the Year category for the Women’s Choice Awards Africa. ‘Snowee’ shared with the publication the invitation she got from the host. The third edition of the prestigious awards is meant to celebrate women who are setting remarkable paces across the continent. The awards will be held on November 20, 2021 at Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra, Ghana. From the dusty streets of Siteki , Snowee will be competing with the best African models, the likes of Awa Sanoko , who has indeed put a smile on the faces of the people of Cote d’Ivoire and the entire African community by being Miss Model Of The World title for Africa. She will also be competing agaist Nana Yaa Baidoo who was crowned the Best Runway Model of the Year in Ghana and Gifty Boakye who has won numerous accolades for her work, including the Local Model of the Year at the 2019 African Entertainment Awards USA. Speaking to the publication, ‘Snowee’ expressed her excitement; she said she felt honoured to be recognised in such a big platform. “I am humbled by the recognition. It is one of my biggest achievements,” she said. Simelane also pleaded with the public to support her by mentioning her name on the Instagram handle ‘womenchoiceawards’ for votes. It is worth noting that social media went abuzz when the model posted on her page about the nomination. Her caption read, “I have lost count on the number of years it took for me to get here. Africa finally recognised your homegirl . Nominated for the Women’s Choice Awards Africa . Even if I don’t win, this is everything I prayed for.” A number of people congratulated her. Recognised Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) CEO Stanley Dlamini said, “We have recognised Snowee as a country in the last awards as she received the Best Model award. When locals receive such an accolade, this is an indication that that person is ready to compete on an international stage,” he said. Dlamini went on to congratulate Simelane and encourage the public to support her. It is worth noting that Snowee has also achieved a number of titles making her one of the top models in the country. She has won Miss Planet 2019 and she was also crowned GSIA supermodel of the year 2020. Snowee is part of Clavon Model and Talent Management in South Africa, which has showcased internationally in New Zealand and New York. Under her modelling belt she has acting, where she is currently on a BET series named Isono and has graced one of be biggest magazine covers in NewYork titled Heights. Her recent gig was in Italy she was chosen to be part of the much anticipated fashion event, the Taormina International Fashion 2021. She is also not the first local model to hoist the country’s flag; another model that represented the country in 2010 was Phiwa Tshangela who graced the runways of Milan.
