Times Of Swaziland: ZULU D, SBU GET DLADLA MSHUNQISI CO-SIGN ZULU D, SBU GET DLADLA MSHUNQISI CO-SIGN ================================================================================ Nombuso Dlamini on 24/03/2023 10:23:00 MBABANE – Zulu D and Sbu De Drum DJ successfully collaborated during Ekhayeni Chillaz show last Friday , their video was reposted by SA’s Dladla Mshunqisi. Dladla Mshunqisi, real name Anele Dladla, is a talented South Africa dance music vocalist. He is famous for collaborating with the Durban SA Gqom music group “Distruction Boyz” alongside Benny Maverick for the hit jam "Omunye". Apart from music, he is known for his passion for cooking that has earned him numerous followers across his socials. DJ Zulu D and Sbu de Drum DJ were performing the SA singer’s famous hit titled ‘Woza uzizwele’ and that is the one that Dladla reposted and tagged DJ Tira. This publication spoke to one of the two acts, Sbu de Drum DJ who expressed his excitement about the co-sign by the SA artist, especially because the artists only collaborated on that night. This show was a first of its kind, as Sbu De Drum DJ was on the drums while Zulu D was making solid Gqom selections on the decks. Patrons loved the collaboration of the two DJs as they were repeatedly screaming in excitement throughout their slot. The DJs managed to put on a good show. Local artists have seen growth in international co-signs. A co-sign is when an artist, usually someone with commercial success, gives a different artist, usually someone with lower success, a shout-out by acknowledging that they like his/her music. Co-signs can also be when those successful artists allow up-and-coming artists to be featured in their songs. Co-signs fuel why every artist is commercially popular today. Every Hip Hop artist at one point in their career was given a co-sign; and because of that co-sign, this was the main reason they were able to achieve mainstream success. Every artist dreams to receive some kind of co-sign from another artist. Without co-signs, artist diversity in Hip Hop would be very shallow. Artists such as Kanye West, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore and Chance the Rapper all received co-signs even Eswatini’s very own Uncle Waffles received a cosign from Canadian rapper Drake.
