The three-day festival will be held on June 30- July 02 this year, at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre. They are the originators of the distinctive sound that arouses and excites a curious ear, a sound popularly publicised by the likes of ‘Team Mosha’. Epic Gig Public Relations Officer Makhosazane Pascua Pelembe shared with this publication that 2 Point 1 caught the attention of Prince Kaybee with their unorthodox and unfamiliar House music sound that has since dominated in the SA Free State province and spread across Pretoria like forest fire. Keys Their melody and keys are a cross between ‘Amapiano’ and ‘Mamelody commercial House music’ sound, hence the relation and adoption by people from Pretoria. It’s worth mentioning that the duo was formed in 2012 by both members after being inspired by well known international duos like Black Motion, Revolution and Vatkuk v/s Mahoota. The group is made up of ‘Priga’ Tankiso Prince Baloyi (Producer,songwriter and DJ) born in 1992 and raised in Welkom, and ‘Sheke’ Moeketsi Victor Rathebe (Producer and DJ) born 1990 in Welkom. 2 Point 1 is mostly popular for producing ‘Olga Please’ by Mocchachino, a hit single that got international airtime and they join the long list of Epic artists including; Mateo, Tella, DJ Toxik, Stickx, Tiling, Sir Teazy, Maphi, Mapensela, Mad Uno, Mac Theter, Miss Tee, LiveLoveLance, Expo, AyaCity, Crash Master, Chantel, Chad De Tempo, Bay Bash, Bisto, Locco, Rowen the Vth, Teesto, Lution, Dope Deep, Blxckie, Maglera Doe Boi During the Epic Gig IV launch, which was held at the George Hotel, which is one of the festival sponsor’s, The first phase of the line-up has revealed,which include: Nasty C, The Bishops, Thuli Phongolo, Amos, A Reece, 25K, Urcousinphayo, Kwesta, Mlindo, Kangaroo, Eimsofly, Shawprops, Fantacy, Its Blaq, YoungstaCPT, Ohpis, Thubillion and Sbu De Drum DJ. Also as to perform at the festival are The Freshmen, which is a concept that was created and brought to life by Epic Gig. “Its main role is to empower and give young and upcoming artists the platform to showcase their skills in poetry, and all the other forms of music and they are paid for the work that they do. The artists who will be part of the festival will also perform at the Epic Gig activations that are done all over the kingdom. The Freshmen are; Maradona, Smaggz, Fezzo, Cnatra, Fisiwe, Kingx Kein, Skull boy cue and Blessing.
