MBABANE – The much-anticipated Mr and Miss Albinism pageant is returning on
November 9, promising a celebration of talent and inclusivity in the Kingdom of
Eswatini.
Hosted by the innovative Sunscreen Drive at the prestigious Sibane Sami Hotel,
the event aims to raise awareness about albinism and support those struggling to
afford essential sunscreen. Founded in 2019, the pageant is designed to showcase
the unique abilities of participants, emphasising talents alongside personality
and intelligence.  Unlike traditional beauty pageants, this event will not
include swimwear segments, adhering to a standard of integrity and respect for
all contestants.
Commitment
Organisers Bongiwe Dlamini, a model, and DJ Missy Unique, who both live with
albinism, have voiced their commitment to uplifting individuals with albinism
through this platform. “We want to encourage the younger generation to embrace
their abilities and engage in diverse activities within Eswatini. This pageant
serves not only as a competition, but a means to inspire confidence and
self-esteem,” they said. One of the key motivations behind the Sunscreen Drive
is the urgent need for affordable sun protection for individuals with albinism.
As summer approaches, protecting one’s skin becomes increasingly vital, and
the team aims to raise funds to assist those unable to purchase
sunscreen.Understanding the health risks associated with sun exposure, the
organisers are keen to promote awareness and provide solutions for those in
need.

comedians, poets, and fashion designers; allowing participants to display their
creative talents. This inclusivity is at the heart of the event, seeking to
