The multi award-winning Gospel music legend Makhabane considers his collaboration with the Black Mambazo group in a song as an appreciation of his contribution to the Gospel industry over the past years, he believes that his hard work in his craft has made the black Mambazo group to approach him for a song to appreciate him. Makhabane expressed his excitement on collaborating with the group for a masterpiece, “ I have been a fan on Black Mambazo from way back, so when they approached me for doing the song with them, I was so thrilled” he said. Makhabane shared that he has been winning Lifetime Achievement Awards across the world. “On February 7, 2025, I was in Zimbabwe, where I was honoured for the contribution I have done in the Gospel industry. Zimbabwe has become my second home because of the way they support my music and the love they show me,” he said. He also mentioned that he was approached by Xolani Majozi, the manager of Black Mambazo at the SAMAs last year after receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award to do a song with him.“Majozi told me that they were discussing with the rest of the team to honour me for my craft by recording a song with me,” he said. Makhabane elaborated that he just agreed to collaborate with the group as he saw it as opportunity to add to the list of the number of people he has collaborated with in his craft. Makhabane believes that his hasty voice is a gift from above and it has worked for him from 1988, he believes that his faithfulness in God has placed him where he is at the moment and he believes he has no competition in the world. ‘‘I am grateful to God for giving me wisdom to discover other musicians and watch them as they grow in the gospel industry. This year is my very special year because I am turning 60 years in September and 37 years in the gospel industry. Silence is my best weapon” he said. Makhabane appreciated all the media houses for their contribution in making sure that his talent is seen. He mentioned that there are only three things that keep him going including a love for what he does, believing in himself and working hard.
