The event took place at Swaziland Theatre Club on Friday night and featured some of Swaziland’s most celebrated poets known in the land. Once again the event saw scores of music lovers, poets and families come together to celebrate the night dedicated to women and what they mean to us all as people. Although the show was expected to only feature only women since it is women’s month the male musicians also made a significant contribution to the overall show. Some of the male performers that were seen on the night included the very talented Durban based hip hop artist Manelis who gave quite an interactive performance, The African Seed and the much celebrated and gifted The Last Man also recited a poem that spoke of the importance of women and grandmothers. Serenading the audience with her soulful voice songstress Mpho Shabalala did an outstanding job in performing acapella. The passionate poet Dzeli Mdluli who is known for performing at several Limkokwing University events Dzeli also took to the stage and also did a track about a mother who was having difficulty with her pregnancy. “We are very happy with the overall show and the celebration of the women that play a major role in our lives. It was great to witness all the artists and talking about the everyday life of women and all that they face in life,” said The Rooted Soulz founder Themba Mavuso. Female poet Mo Cats also gave an outstanding performance and went to the extent of challenging the Rooted Soulz founder Themba Mavuso as she recited her poem. Her performance was so outstanding the Durban hip hop artist Abdus rated it as the best performances on the night. The audience was also blown away by the South African female jazz band Heels over Head who went all out to give an amazing performance. It was also amazing to notice that some patrons even showed up before the show had actually started. Even during the setting up process some Rooted Soulz loyal patrons went to the extent of even sitting in before the event could even start and did not mind waiting comfortably in their seats. Some attendants actually found themselves standing throughout the whole show. Other artists that also contributed to the show included the much celebrated Sandziso who played the guitar and will also be performing at the upcoming ‘Sibebe Friday Night Live’ series. Also contributing to the show was Swaziland Building Society who were giving people an opportunity to register for incontact service among other services.
