Times Of Swaziland: INTERVARS BASH MOVES TO RIDERS RANCH INTERVARS BASH MOVES TO RIDERS RANCH ================================================================================ BY NHLANHLA MATHUNJWA on 07/03/2014 05:13:00 MBABANE – The venue for the much awaited opening bash for the 2014 Intervarsity Games has been changed. The show, featuring top South African artists who include Uhuru of ‘Y-tjukutja’ fame, Heavy K, Oskido and Chikitas has been shifted from the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre and will now be held at the Riders Ranch in Sidvokodvo. Organisers of the show confirmed that the venue is no longer available due to preparations of the King’s Birthday which takes place next month. “The party is on as planned and would take place at the Riders Ranch. Our plan was to host the show at Mavuso but because of reasons beyond our control, we had to change the venue,” said Bonke Shabangu, the Minister of Students Internal Affairs. He assured students of a great night, saying all the artists have confirmed and they are expected to arrive in the country on Saturday morning. “It is going to be he best show that has ever been witnessed in the country. We have tried to organise enough security and we hope the show will be violence free,” he said. He said those who would be attending the show should not worry about transport as it will be available. “Buses will be available in all campuses. As from 2pm, there will be buses in all the campuses. The pick up times will be between 2pm and 8pm. We will make sure that all those who want to attend the event get there on time,” he said. Meanwhile the Mr and Miss Intervarsity pageant will be held at Woodlands Restaurant. The organising committee has already confirmed with the restaurant and the pageant is expected to start at 8pm. At least 30 contestants from all three universities are expected to try their luck on the night. This will be followed by an after party that will feature South African deejaying kings Black Motion. Shabangu said they have organised transport for those who would want to attend the show and they would make sure that they are picked on time. “The pageant is on and we invite the public to come in their numbers. It is going to be the best pageant. As I have stated, there would be over 30 contestants and, therefore, this is an event that should not be missed,” he said.
