Times Of Swaziland: SWAZIS RULE IN INTERVARSITY CHORAL, BEAUTY SWAZIS RULE IN INTERVARSITY CHORAL, BEAUTY ================================================================================ BY THOBEKA MANYATHELA on 10/03/2014 22:10:00 MANZINI – Swazi students came out victorious in the Intervarsity Games choral and beauty competitions on Sunday. Under the beauty pageants section, towering beauty Siphosethu Matsebula scooped the Miss Intervarsity title where she beat 10 other contestants from the three countries. In the choral competition, the locals became the overall winners, Botswana came second while Lesotho only managed the third position. Taking the Mr Intervarsity title was crowd favourite Lesotho hunk, Ndebele Lelingasana. Surprisingly the crowd was mainly dominated by the Lesotho students who were in full support of both their male and female contestants on the night. The pageant kicked off with a cultural dance piece from the three respective countries with Swaziland taking the lead in their Indlamu and Emajobo traditional regalia. Frenzy The Batswana and Basotho followed with traditional dances as well, which brought the entire hall to massive dance frenzy. These were followed by the swimsuit section and formal wear parade. By this time the crowd favourites were visible in Lesotho’s male Ndebele Lelingasana and Swazi female Buhlebethu Nyamane. The crowd would ceremoniously get into a screaming frenzy each time these two took to the stage. Buhlebethu Nyamane ended up taking the First Princess position which did not go down well with the crowd such that when Siphosethu was announced the queen she was booed by a large majority. All along the crowd had been screaming ‘Number 4’ which was Buhlebethu’s number on top of their voices. However, they settled down as programme director Zoleka Maseko quickly moved on to the Mr Intervarsity crowning. No negative responses came from the judge’s decision to crown Lesotho’s Ndebele, as he had been the crowd favourite from the start.
