Times Of Swaziland: MIND CHOICE OF WORDS MIND CHOICE OF WORDS ================================================================================ Editor on 15/07/2019 08:12:00 Sir, A lot of young people out there have been killed and murdered by the words they were told by their own parents, when they were very young. What you tell your child today will affect their life forever; it’s either you kill them or you make them live. As a parent, no matter how angry or frustrated you are, never utter negative words towards your child because that anger will pass but the emotional scar will forever remain and your words will ring in your child’s ears forever. How do you expect your children to excel when you told them they were useless and nothing good will come from them? Whenever that individual tries to do something they will remember what you told them and obviously they will fail. Parents, stop pushing your children to the direction of sugar daddies and then blame the devil for that. Beautiful If you don’t tell your girl child she is beautiful as a father but become a roaring lion in the home, obviously when your child meets an old man telling her she is beautiful and uttering the words ‘I love you’ they will fall into the trap simply because they are not used to those words coming from a father. There is no family curse; your children were not bewitched by anyone but yourself as a parent through your choice of words. They lack confidence and self-esteem, and most probably they would become doctors but they don’t believe they are good enough because of you. Love If parents in this country would love and tell their children that they love them, the rate of teenage pregnancy would drop because no girl would need to sleep with a boy just to be told they are loved while being used. No boy would engage in drug abuse just to be told they are cool and want to fit into a gang of boys. No child would commit a crime just to be told they are good enough by their peers. Young people are not possessed by demons when they do this, they are just vulnerable, so parents please fill gaps and do justice to your children.
