Times Of Swaziland: YOUTH CAN MOVE WORLD YOUTH CAN MOVE WORLD ================================================================================ The Editor on 16/03/2021 07:42:00 Sir, Maybe one of the best known stories in the Bible is the story of David and Goliath. When this story took place in 1 Samuel 17 David was probably only 17 years old. In this chapter, we see David as an obedient son, a brave soldier and, above all, a young man who fully trusted God. There is a wonderful story in 2 Kings 5 about Naaman being healed of leprosy by God. One of the minor characters in the story is a little slave girl of whom we know almost nothing. She was in a land that was not her home. She was actually there against her will. Yet, she still loved the people God had placed around her and was willing to share what she knew about the Lord with them. Progress Young people have always played an essential role in the progress of any cause. As time progresses, the impact of the forces of darkness that characterise the old world order and the forces of light that characterise the new world order is destined to reach its climax. All over the world, great changes are revolutionising the fate of humanity. It is the army of young people, the army of light that is in the forefront of this battle. Last week I met a group of men at a popular braai area; we talked about a lot and one of the things was how young people with their creativity should be at the forefront of development. The one guy who was the eldest was speaking passionately about the subject, I could tell he believed what he said and really wished young people had a voice in the country. While he was talking, I made an observation and said to him; “You know while you are talking about how young people should have their opinions listened to, I notice that you have been talking 90 per cent of the time since we started talking, and the other 10 per cent you are speaking over someone. This is a typical example of what happens on the ground.” I did not intend to sound disrespectful, but the situation was the direct opposite of what this man stood for. I cannot help but wonder how many people strongly believe in the ideas of young people, but never grant them the space to exercise and implement those ideas.
