Sir,
It’s very disturbing to witness the fall of Eswatini in our generation; I
wonder what historians will assume of us with the way we are handling the
current crisis. Say maybe 100 years from now, they will say we were uneducated
like the people of the 1900s when we lost almost all our land to neighbouring
States.
Now we are made to run helter skelter by people who are advocating for the need
of a change in the way our country is governed. I don’t blame them but I am
disappointed by the way they are going about it. Since I was a little boy I have
heard of promises that things would change, poverty would be dealt with but
nothing tangible is being done. As for the things said leading to the political
unrest, they clearly demonstrated that government and other leaders are detached
from what people are going through and their pain. I am sure that it will take a
long time to repair and rebuild trust between them and the general citizenry.
All people want is transparency and spending our taxes according to the needs of
the citizenry and the nation. I am neither a progressive nor a conservative, I
just want to see a better Eswatini because to me it seems like our country can
only advance through policies that are emaSwati-oriented.
Development
However for that to happen we need to get all people on board, politicians and
the citizenry, so that we are able to work together for the development of our
country. We cannot afford to have people pulling at different directions.  To
our advantage, geographically, Eswatini is small, so we can get our nation
running in a short space of time if only we can settle our differences and
commit ourselves to nation- building.  Crisis tests our strength and weaknesses;
so we must redefine our course for us to come out of this ‘storm’ in one
piece.
