Times Of Swaziland: Border Restoration Committee relaxed Border Restoration Committee relaxed ================================================================================ The editor on 18/08/2013 10:00:00 Sir, Many fellow Swazis have voiced their concern on the non viability of this committee. I was once tempted to believe them but for some reason, I have seen the need for the committee. Let us put aside the failure to conclude the task it was given and let us focus on the positive side of the exercise. Firstly we have to acknowledge that this land belongs to us as Swazis. The fact that the Boers took it away in such a manner must not make us give up what is ours. It’s true we can’t manage the little country that we have but still we need our land back. If you have built your home and there are some idle fields and some one comes to ask to utilise them, when time comes that you now need your fields, why should it be an issue? Atibuye emasisweni - it would be cowardice to not go for our land just because we are afraid. No ways alibuye lelive. The problem is when this exercise was initiated by the King there was no time frame given to this committee and as a result it was just working leisurely, thus the failure to conclude the exercise. If there is no time frame given to any project, it can take forever to accomplish. So my take would be that a new committee be set up and the terms of reference be succinctly spelt. I think this combination of the group is wrong, because if we are using people who are not employed anywhere, who are relying on that project for a living then obviously they would drag their feet so that they can have an extension of time, well I know that there are some who are working some where but the main issue is that we need new people to take over the exercise. As for the land!! We need that back before we die. Consider the high birth rate in our country, if we don’t get that land back, where are our children going to build their homes? At least mine mtukulu wa Sanduza wa Mbandzeni, I need the land back by hooks or crooks. Lastly to the many people who complain that what are we going to do with the land, may I say that we shall plough in it to feed the many starving Swazis. Only if we get the right Ministers to advice the King, that land is full of wealth. So I beseech the appointing authorities to appoint more vibrant people. Khokhumncadvo Dlamini EBUTSINI
