Times Of Swaziland: WOMAN HELD FOR FOETUS BLAMES IT ON DRINKING WOMAN HELD FOR FOETUS BLAMES IT ON DRINKING ================================================================================ BY MBONGISENI NDZIMANDZE on 24/03/2017 03:08:00 MBABANE – A night of fun turned deadly as a six months pregnant woman lost her unborn child after indulging in juice laced with a combination of pure cane spirit, Vodka and cream liquor. This happened during a party organised by one of her friends. Gugu Precious Gamedze (35) of Bulunga has since been arrested and charged with murder. She is alleged to have later dumped the foetus in a pit latrine. Gamedze claimed that during the pregnancy she was advised by doctors against alcohol consumption. She alleged that since she was also asthmatic and had a condition of internal ulcers, she was also advised against taking certain medicines which could lead to miscarriage and termination of the pregnancy. The accused said in heed of the medical advice she stopped drinking alcohol and was generally cautious about her pregnancy. “On or about January, I attended a party at one of my friend’s homestead at Boyane. During the party, my friends offered me a certain drink which I was told was punch and non-alcoholic,” alleged Gamedze. She informed the court that she drank the drink offered to her without suspecting anything. Gamedze pointed out that after having a couple of glasses of the punch she started feeling dizzy and she felt like she wanted more of the drink. According to the accused, she enquired from her friend what the drink contained as she was getting drunk.
