LUKHOZI CHIEF’S HOUSE PETROL-BOMBED

MBABANE – A police officer-in-charge of the Serious Crimes Unit (Lukhozi), and
his family watched helplessly as his house was burnt after it had been
petrol-bombed.
Family members of Mbazo Dlamini, the police officer heading the Lukhozi
Department in Mbabane, said they were alerted to the fire by smoke at around 9pm
on Monday.
The incident happened at Siphocosini and Dlamini’s mother, Philda, said they
had a suspect in mind.
The house is situated within the family compound which also has other houses.
All the property inside the two-room house was burnt to ashes and there was
nobody in any of the rooms when the fire started.
Dlamini’s first wife, who is also a police officer based in Pigg’s Peak,
lived in the house. During the incident, Dlamini was in another house within the
compound.
According to Philda, they heard footsteps outside as they were about to go to
bed and they thought it was a person who had come to steal maize in the yard.
“The house is occupied by LaNhlabatsi and a nephew to my son, who is also a
police officer. I wanted to go out when I heard the footsteps but thought it
would not be safe since it was dark. The door going into the inner room in the
burnt house was faulty and it did not close properly. This is where we suspect
the person  threw in the petrol and lit a match. Everything in both rooms was
ruined because there was nothing the children could save.
