Times Of Swaziland: KABOYCE PUPIL COLLAPSES AFTER TOUGH PUNISHMENT KABOYCE PUPIL COLLAPSES AFTER TOUGH PUNISHMENT ================================================================================ BY THEMBINKOSI MAVIMBELA on 18/05/2017 04:17:00 MBABANE – Another day another assembly square controversy. At least two female KaBoyce High School pupils were injured after their whole class of about 26 was allegedly punished for not starting a song during morning assembly on Tuesday. This follows an incident where a chief quit army training at the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF) Mbuluzi Infantry School, after he was slapped by an instructor for mistakenly doing something wrong. KaBoyce is known for the good results, they obtain in all their external examinations. The school, which was once led by Simon Mthunzi, was even given the name ‘KaBrilliant’ due to its excellent academic record. According to sources close to the matter, a teacher who was leading the morning assembly allegedly instructed Form VI pupils to lead the rest of the school in song, however, the only feedback he received was utter silence. The teacher, who is known to this publication but will not be named, is said to have then allegedly ordered the pupils to remain behind as the others went to their respective classes after the morning prayer. Sources close to the matter revealed that the Form VI pupils were allegedly subjected to rather unusual punishment which was not common in schools, as they were made to do press-ups, squats and other aggressive exercises. It was alleged that the senior pupils did the tough exercises usually seen during army recruitment, for about 45 minutes. “In the course of the punishment, one of the pupils collapsed but the teacher did not pay any attention to her,” a source said.
