Times Of Swaziland: TOM KIRK SCREAMS VICTIMISATION AFTER EXCLUSION FROM ELECTIONS TOM KIRK SCREAMS VICTIMISATION AFTER EXCLUSION FROM ELECTIONS ================================================================================ BY SIBUSISO ZWANE on 11/10/2017 01:50:00 MATSAPHA – Well-known businessman Tom Kirk screamed victimisation as his business, Diesel Services that, owns Mahhala Shopping Complex has been disqualified from Matsapha local government elections. In Matsapha, under Ward Six, Kirk’s company owns Matsamo Shopping Complex, which is widely known as Mahhala and Farm 234. Kirk had already appointed a proxy to represent his company during the voting process when he learnt about the disqualification which happened after they allegedly failed to provide water and electricity bills. The disqualification means that Kirk’s proxy would not vote or be voted for. The director of the company confirmed the matter and said this was the first time the company was disqualified from the local government voting process. He said after registering, they were asked to provide water and electricity bills for Mahhala complex despite that it was operating a property business where tenants had their own bills. “Coincidentally, Diesel Services did not appear in the voters’ roll and has been denied the privilege to vote in the upcoming local government elections,” he said. The businessman said the only utility bill the company could provide for Mahhala complex was the rates payment receipt, which was enough proof that the business was there. Furthermore, Kirk said Diesel Services also owns Lugebhuta Farm 234, which was incorporated into Matsapha Industrial Estate in 2012. He said this farm has all government agricultural certificates confirming that it was an agricultural producing land and it also has rate payment receipts. “The farm cannot have water and electricity bills because the livestock drink at Lusushwana River and they do not use electricity to graze on grass.”
