Times Of Swaziland: HATS OFF FOR IMBALI HATS OFF FOR IMBALI ================================================================================ BY SIBUSISO SHANGE on 31/08/2018 04:15:00 BHAMUSAKHE – Men who seem not well versed with Eswatini culture yesterday got a free lecture from Lizinyane Sakhizwe. Leading the young maidens who were commissioned by the King to cut the reed at Bhamusakhe, Sakhizwe made sure that no men had a hat on his head when Imbali passed by. Culturally, men are not supposed to put on hats when a regiment passes by; however, it was not the case with the men of Luyengo. The removal of the hats is done in respect of the culture. The same applies to motorists. The motorists complied well with the police when ordered to give way to the maidens. “Yeyi, khumulani tigcoko etinhloko (remove the hats on your heads),” Sakhizwe shouted. Sakhizwe was supported by the other maidens as she admonished the men. As a result, the men removed their hats. The energetic maidens fetched quality reed as urged by the King. They are expected to deliver the reed to Ludzidzini Royal Residence today. The young maidens will be joined by the old maidens who cut the reed at Mpisi Farm before marching to Ludzidzini Royal Residence.
