Thamsanqa Ndlangamandla (33) made his court appearance yesterday, charged with the offence of rape. The incident is said to have happened last Saturday at Lawuba in the Shiselweni Region. The accused is a teacher at KaMzila Primary School. It was said that four-year-old *Nana was sent to the shop by her aunt to purchase a candle and a box of matches around 6pm. According to statements, the minor headed to the shop and while on her way, she met Ndlangamandla, who allegedly told her to rush to the shop so that they could walk back together. Tree On her way back, Nana allegedly found Ndlangamandla waiting for her under a tree. It was stated that the teacher thereafter told Nana that he had money he had put under a tree that he wanted to give to her. They then allegedly proceeded to the tree in a forest and upon arrival; the teacher allegedly raped the minor. It is said that the minor cried and further screamed for help, which was when she was allegedly chocked by Ndlangamandla. When she screamed, it was established that she was heard by her uncle, who proceeded to the direction in which the screams were coming from. It is said that the minor continuously tried to scream while being choked, which was when her uncle walked closer to where the sound came from and found the teacher allegedly raping the minor. It was further alleged that when Ndlangamandla saw Nana’s uncle, he got up and fled. The uncle allegedly chased after him and at some point, the teacher decided to stop running and fought the uncle. Fled “They fought in the forest; the teacher managed to escape,however, he was caught and taken to Nana’s home by the uncle,” alleged a source. It was stated that the minor, during the chase, got up and headed home as her uncle found her at home when he arrived with Ndlangamandla. According to the source, the family then informed a community police member, who then called the police to the homestead. The minor was taken to hospital for medical examination.
