Times Of Swaziland: WHY PRINCE LONKHOKHELA TURNED BACK AT INCWALA WHY PRINCE LONKHOKHELA TURNED BACK AT INCWALA ================================================================================ BY NHLANGANISO MKHONTA on 16/12/2021 08:47:00 MBABANE – Prince Lonkhokhela is said to have arrived late at Ngabezweni Royal Residence on the day he eventually did not dance the ongoing Little Incwala. This was on Tuesday. Information reaching this publication was to the effect that the prince arrived when the dancing was in procession, resulting in the security personnel requesting the prince to rather walk to the arena instead of driving closer to the venue. “The prince, who is also the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), came when Incwala was already in session. As such, security asked him to park outside the gate and walk through to join the regiment. The intention for that was to stick to procedure and not to belittle him or render him a security risk,” a source said. However, the prince seemingly opted to turn back. This narration of events was also corroborated by Director of Information and Communication in the King’s Office, Percy Simelane. Simelane explained that the prince was not blocked from entering Ngabezweni Royal residence and no order to this effect was issued. Security He said what transpired was that security acted on procedure, which required that motorists who came late when the Incwala was already in session should not drive through to avoid distraction of the regiments who were singing and dancing with the King (or royalty). He said the prince was also asked to park his car and walk to join the regiments as well. Efforts to reach the prince were futile as he did not answer his cellphone when contacted several times and he did not respond to messages sent to him. The messages sent to him were to seek the authenticity of the facts as shared by our sources and Simelane that he had arrived when the regiments were already dancing the Little Incwala.
