The items went missing in a space of two months and no arrests have been made so far. According to information sourced from insiders at the hospital, the items were stolen one after another, something that has raised eyebrows. Missing First, they said the microwave went missing at the laboratory, followed by the three computers which were stolen at the Full Paying Department about three weeks ago, and lastly the television set which was mounted at the Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) department. The television set was reported missing last week Thursday. It is believed that all the stolen items were taken during the night. Further, the insiders noted that the matter was reported to the sister-in-charge, who also informed the hospital managers. They stated that the theft took place in a short space of time, yet the building was currently being protected by security personnel. “As employees, we no longer feel safe at the hospital, especially because this is not the first incident,” the workers said. They noted that they had raised the concern with hospital authorities but seemingly there was no action being taken. When reached for comment on the matter, Director of Health Services Dr Vusi Magagula confirmed the ongoing theft at the hospital. Dr Magagula said police were investigating the matter. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed that the stolen television set and computers were reported. Vilakati said they were still investigating.
