KING OFF TO TRANSFORM AFRICA SUMMIT IN ZIM

SIKHUPHE – His Majesty King Mswati III jetted out of the country yesterday to
attend the Transform Africa Summit 2023 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
The King, who was accompanied by Inkhosikati LaMatsebula, left the country
through the King Mswati III International Airport at 4:57pm yesterday. In
Zimbabwe, he is expected to start at Victoria Falls, where he will partake in
Africa’s leading annual forum, which brings together global and regional
leaders from government, business and international organisations, to
collaborate on new ways of shaping, accelerating and sustaining the
continent’s digital revolution.
Signing
The summit will run until Friday and it will end with the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). During the summit, the leaders are expected
to discuss how to build a resilient digital ecosystem in Africa, through
sustainable investments.  The summit will have a transform, connect and innovate
sessions. According to https://transformafricasummit.org, the transform session
would aim to elevate the transformation by discussing solutions and strategies
for advancing digital transformation and sustainable development in Africa.
The participants will also discuss how digital technologies can be harnessed to
accelerate economic growth, reduce inequality and promote environmental
sustainability in the continent.
Again, the participants are expected to explore the role of advanced digital
infrastructure, such as 5G networks, cloud computing and smart cities in
supporting digital economy and improving the quality of life for citizens.
They will also look at digital skills and workforce development, together with
cybersecurity and data protection, among other topics.  After the summit, the
King is expected to proceed to Harare, which is the capital city of Zimbabwe for
a State visit. Thereafter, he would go to Bulawayo for the official opening of
the 2023 Trade Fair. When leaving the country, scores of people descended to
King Mswati III International Airport to bid farewell to the King and they
included Cabinet ministers, who were led by the Acting Prime Minister, Themba
Masuku, whose official position is Deputy Prime Minister, government officials,
royal family members, including Emakhosikati and emazinyane among others. It was
later gathered that the King and his delegation had landed safely in Zimbabwe.
